Tera Mount Basics

Here is a quick explanation about mount basics and how they work in Tera. Check out this section for an introduction on these questions below:

Why do I need a mount in Tera?

The world of Tera has some of the most beautiful graphics in an online game so what better way to see the world than to travel round on your mount, but of course you will need a mount for many other little things as they make getting around a whole lot easier and after you get your first mount you won’t want to walk anywhere again.

While a quick teleport or the use of a flight master are obviously useful for travelling around, it’s a great feeling to have that sense of freedom, able to roam at your own pace and go the path you want to go.

How can I get mounts in Tera?

Tera will have many ways to obtain mounts such as:

  • Purchasing the game – bonuses
  • Quest rewards
  • Pvp/battlegrounds rewards
  • Political system/guild perks
  • Achievements

We’re expecting the classic ways of collecting mounts through recruit a friend, dungeon rewards, daily quest grinds and so on, but there are so many possibilities so we’ll have to see what the future brings.

How do I use my mounts?

When you receive a mount it comes in the form of a skill book (riding skill) and goes into your inventory:

From here you will need to use the manual to learn how to summon the mount and this will add it to your skill menu:

Open the skill menu (highlighted blue) and you will see the learned skill now ready to summon, you can either drag the mount icon to your ability bars or summon the mount through the menu:

As you gain more mounts your skill book will gain more pages but your mounts are also stored with your spells, just click through your skills to find your mount collection.

Claiming Your Pre Order / Collector’s Edition Items.

The items were most interested in is the mounts of course, so when you turn level 11 you can gain access to your first pre order mount, and level 20 is when you can gain access to the Regal Frostlion if you purchased a collector’s edition of Tera.

When your character turns level 11 go to the activities menu and click item claim:

Then click on account items and you should see on this list your chosen mount, select the mount riding skill and click use:

Confirm you want to use this item then when you have clicked yes the skill will go into your inventory (bag):

Add the mount to your collection then go into your skills menu under learned skills:

You can now summon your mount, dragging the icon to your ability bars will allow you to summon your mount easier:

Just right click the Horse icon to summon your mount!

Tera mount frequently asked questions:

Q -When can I get my first mount?

A – You can gain access to your first mount when you have a character that has reached level 11, but some mounts can be summoned from level 1 such as Regal Frostlion.

Q – Are the pre order mounts available to all chars you make (are they account bound)?

A – The pre order mounts were announced that they would be for one character use only, but a more recent comment announced that pre order bonuses are account wide and will apply to all characters.

Also in other game order purchases it should state if the mounts that come with are account bound or one character use only.

Q – Will all the mounts you collect scale up together or are they set speeds?

A – From what we gather it looks like whatever the mount’s “Movement Speed” it will be set, but it looks like faster versions of certain mounts can be purchased.
